My shop manual(s) call for the top ring gap toward the front, the second towards the back. The middle part of the oil ring towards the side with the two small oil wiper rings about 60degrees from the middle oilring gap. Hell, it might not be the right way, but it IS the Norton way. Compression is 130 bilaterally. The oil foulin' Norton Seems to be close to actually running well BTW, More news as it happens..
