26.1 False Advertsing in Classic Bike.

Page 11 of the August edition of CLASSIC BIKE contains a demonstrably false advertising claim. To wit, the C&E SPORTS ad for motorcycle tents claims "Quick Erection Guaranteed".

Fifty of C&E's tents were purchased by myself and fellow researchers (all males, incidentally) here at the Institute and were put to a scientifically designed double blind test. Each researcher assembled a tent and went inside. The researchers were not told of the reputed aphrodisiac properties of C&E SPORTS tents.

After 4 hours, a data taker visited each tent and tallied the results. After throwing away outliners and other statistical flukes, a distribution curve was plotted using the Institute's new Lucas supercomputer, JOE , (Just-in-time Output-Emitter).

As we expected before we started the test, the results were no better than in last month's trials in which a 1953 Vauxhall was used as a test chamber.

Bottom line: Save your money. BTW, on close examination it was found that these tents are not even 100% British made, having been assembled using Spanish flies.
